Board Book

Big Red Barn

Who loves children's books about farms and the life behind them?! Big Red Barn by Margret Wise Brown is the last board book that I found and a fiction story about life on a farm. It showed the animals that live on the farm, the sounds that they make, and what they do while there. The story also talks about how they roam around the farm, eat together, and go out their lives on the farm from day to night. It shows the children how they would normally see on a farm in a child friendly way. I really did enjoy reading the story about the animals on the farm and how they live together from day to night. The illustrations were also very realistic for the viewer to see.

The Noisy Book

There are numerous noises that many animals, cars, trucks, people, things, etc. make and The Noisy Book by Soledad Bravi sure does cover many! The book has all different things that make noises and  show what kind of noise that they make for younger children to see the culture of what is around them in the world. The pictures and the writing are big to catch the reader and viewer's attention and a great way to portray to children what they are. I do feel that the book is very child friendly, but the reader should be aware and use a lot of enthusiasm when reading aloud to make it engaging for the child!

1 is One

Board Book
For this week's blog, I decided to check out the DeSales Library in search for Board books. The first book that I found was 1 is One by Tasha Tudor. The book is geared toward younger children learning what numbers mean and how to count. Through the book, the author starts with the number one and how it is shown. For example, "1 is one bird in a tree" and it shows with pictures as well.

It goes one to show each number and how it is represented with real life experiences, people, and animals, and things that children this young would see around them. The book does show how it can be a great beginner to help children understand the difference between the numbers by using words and pictures.
