1 is One

Board Book
For this week's blog, I decided to check out the DeSales Library in search for Board books. The first book that I found was 1 is One by Tasha Tudor. The book is geared toward younger children learning what numbers mean and how to count. Through the book, the author starts with the number one and how it is shown. For example, "1 is one bird in a tree" and it shows with pictures as well.

It goes one to show each number and how it is represented with real life experiences, people, and animals, and things that children this young would see around them. The book does show how it can be a great beginner to help children understand the difference between the numbers by using words and pictures.

  1. Is the seal on the cover for being a Caldecott Honor Book?

  2. I love the cover of this book, it's so cute and I like that the little girl is sitting inside the letter "O". This book is proof that books and stories can be used to teach a variety of different things and subjects, including math, to children.
